AFTERCARE

  • The only thing that you should be using to clean your fresh piercing is packaged sterile saline. We recommend and sell Recovery Piercing Aftercare. Things like contact lens solution, eyedrops and other saline products should be avoided. Making your own sea salt solution will usually result in the product being far too salty andstrong. This can dry out your piercing and interfere with healing.

  • Always wash and dry your hands thoroughly prior to cleaning your piercing. Clean your piercing with saline saturated cotton buds twice a day. Ensure the cotton buds are thoroughly saturated to prevent fibers getting caught on jewelry. Oral piercings should be cleaned in the same way, however, internal oral piercings such as tongues will require a twice daily rinse with alcohol free mouthwash. Rinse additionally after eating or smoking.

  • • Avoid cleaning with alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, antibacterial soaps, iodine, tea tree oil, and piercing care solutions. These products are too harsh for long-term wound care and can irritate fresh piercings, prolonging the healing process.

    • Avoid submerging your fresh piercing in unhygienic bodies of water such as pools, hot tubs, and lakes, these harbor bacteria.

    • Avoid sleeping on your piercing. Pressure can cause bumps and even a shift in the piercing angle.

    • For oral piercings, try and avoid smoking, chewing gum and alcohol during the healing process

  • • Every few days with clean hands check that any of the balls are tight to prevent them from coming loose.

    • Keep your headphones clean and change pillow cases regularly.

    • When you visit your hairdresser let them know that you have fresh piercings so they don’t unknowingly knock or catch on them.

    • If you’re struggling not to sleep on your piercing, place your ear in the hole of a traveling pillow to elevate the piercing site.
